Recapping our 2024 Annual Event
We were honored to host supporters, partners, friends and neighbors at the Rivers Casino Grand Ballroom on Nov. 22 for our Annual Community & Business Luncheon. It was an inspiring afternoon during which we celebrated the achievements of the past year and outlined our vision for 2025 and beyond.
This year’s theme, “Supporting Your Green Vision,” highlighted our commitment to helping small businesses, affordable housing and commercial restate projects in Allegheny County achieve their sustainability goals through green financing.
Building on Success
2024 was a milestone year for us, as we closed 103 loans totaling $5.8 million, empowering Historically Disadvantaged Businesses and supporting thriving local economies. Looking ahead to 2025, we aim to expand lending for affordable housing and BIPOC- and women-owned businesses, while taking the next step to support green financing initiatives. As always, collaborative partnerships and enhanced technical support for small businesses remain at the heart of our mission as well.
A Keynote to Remember
A highlight of the luncheon was a motivational keynote address by U.S. Congresswoman Summer Lee (PA-12), whose words reinforced the importance of investing in communities and supporting equitable economic opportunities. Congresswoman Lee praised the efforts of CDFIs across Allegheny County as a driving force behind meaningful change in the region.
Honoring Local Leaders and Entrepreneurs
We also took time to recognize our dedicated supporters and partners, who have played a critical role in advancing our mission. Special honors were given to two late members of the NCDF family: Margaret Eldridge, a former NCDF board member, and Ray Vargo, a former member of our Loan Review Committee and former director of the University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center.
In addition, owners of small businesses we’ve supported – A&D Royal Inc., California Coffee Bar, and Strong Day Cleaners – shared their stories of how we helped them take their businesses to the next level.
Looking Toward a Brighter Future
Our annual event reinforced our commitment to creating opportunities and fostering innovation, collaboration and inclusivity within the small business community. By combining green financing, strategic partnerships, and passion for local businesses, we are equipped to continue paving the way for sustainable economic growth. We’re excited to see you at next year’s event which will be our 25th anniversary.
